Addressing the 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Lanka IOC held at Colombo, this morning, Mr. M. Nene, Chairman, Lanka IOC and Director (Marketing), IndianOil, said, “Lanka IOC will continue to play a key role in energising and enriching the nation, supporting the endeavour of the Government of Sri Lanka, for developing the nation into a strategically important economic power in the region, under the forward-looking leadership of H.E. Sharing the enviable growth chart of the Company with the shareholders, he added that Lanka IOC has made remarkable progress in the very first decade of its operations in Sri Lanka. The business has expanded into several new segments such as bunker fuel operations, export of SERVO lubricants and sales of bitumen. World-class fuels are now being offered to our valued customers in Sri Lanka, by importing products such as XtraPremium, the Euro-III new-generation petrol, for use in new-generation vehicles that are increasingly becoming popular in Sri Lanka.

With reference to the Company’s financial performance, Mr. Nene said, “The turnover of Lanka IOC for the financial year 2011-12 touched Sri Lankan Rs. 60.4 billion while profits stood at Rs. 930 million. Despite the financial constraints faced during the year, several new initiatives were introduced that include five new petrol sheds at Mannar, Buttala, New Kandy Road – Annuradhapura, Mannar Road-Vavuniya and Bibile; refurbishment of the jetty at Trincomalee, and export of SERVO lubricants to countries such as Maldives, Mauritius and Nepal among others.”

With a network of 157 petrol sheds currently, Lanka IOC now has a significant presence in the Sri Lankan retail business, with ambitious plans to further spread our presence in unrepresented areas. Plans are also afoot to capitalise export markets in Southeast Asia, like Myanmar, Malayasia, Vietnam and Philippines for exporting SERVO range of lubricants.

He signed off thanking the valued shareholders for their support and promising that Lanka IOC would continue to work towards achieving energy security of Sri Lanka while focusing on offering world-class technology, products and services as part of the Company’s customer-oriented growth agenda.
